GroupAlarm MESH – Decentralized Communication Network

Fail-safe alarming and crisis communication via LoRa radio – completely independent of power grid, mobile networks, and internet.

Maximum Reliability During Blackouts & Infrastructure Failures

The failure of critical infrastructures – whether due to widespread power outages, cyberattacks, severe weather events, or disrupted mobile networks – requires a reliable fallback level.

GroupAlarm MESH uses the proven Meshtastic protocol and LoRa radio technology to automatically establish a decentralized peer-to-peer network. It ensures that alarms, status messages, and short messages reliably reach their destination even if central providers or internet connections completely fail.

How the MESH Network Works

  • Self-organizing & Dynamic: Each device in the network acts as a full node and automatically functions as a relay station (repeater). If the direct path is blocked, neighboring nodes forward the message (“hop”) to dynamically extend the range.
  • Self-healing Network: If a relay station fails, the protocol automatically finds an alternative route in the network to ensure delivery.
  • Highest Data Security: All transmitted data – from emergency alarms and text messages to acknowledgements – is protected by end-to-end AES-256-bit encryption.

Role Concept in the Operational Area

For seamless radio coverage, the system combines stationary and mobile units:

  • Stationary Repeaters: Are mounted in exposed locations (e.g., on fire stations, town halls, masts, or high-rise buildings) to maximize range throughout the city or municipal area.
  • Mobile Nodes: Installed in emergency vehicles or carried directly by emergency personnel to dynamically densify network coverage directly at the scene.
  • Integration of the GroupAlarm Box: As a stationary receiver, the GroupAlarm Box serves as a direct interface to the Mesh network and reliably triggers alarms even without external connection.

Network Planning & Legal Compliance

A stable MESH network requires precise radio field planning. We support you from simulation to commissioning:

  • Measurement & Simulation: Precise range calculation using MESHTASTIC Site Planner for optimal repeater site selection.
  • Frequency & Regulation: Operation takes place in the license-free ISM/SRD band or optionally on private frequencies.
  • BNetzA Compliance: The system complies with all requirements of the German Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) as well as international authorities and guarantees strict adherence to the prescribed duty cycle (transmission time limit).
