With this update, the messenger now supports sending and receiving files. In addition to images and videos, any file formats – such as PDF documents – can be transferred.

Images and videos are displayed directly in the chat with a preview, while other file formats are shown with their name, type, and size. Files are opened using the default application linked on the respective device. An accompanying text message (e.g., an image description) can be added to the respective documents.

Security

Just like messages, all files are end-to-end encrypted. GroupAlarm cannot view file names or content.

Maximum File Size

The maximum file size is 100 MB. Files exceeding this limit will be rejected upon upload.

Retention Period and Automatic Deletion

The data is not stored permanently on our servers. After 90 days, it is automatically removed from cloud storage. Necessary documents should therefore be secured locally on the device in good time.
